Immigration: Missouri sets up 3 joint federal/state immigration task forces

Articles dealing with Immigrationprdgnonr writes "SPRINGFIELD -- Since the governor's office charged state law enforcement agencies with cracking down on illegal immigrants last year, more than 300 illegals have been arrested. Now, some Missouri law enforcement officers have even more power to carry out the governor's mission.
Eighteen Highway Patrol troopers across the state are now trained to have more authority to perform duties similar to Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Their goal is to get illegal immigrants out of Missouri but some don't think the training will make much difference.

The Sanctuary is a multi-issue organization working in the service of human rights, human reasoning and progressive discussion. Therefore it is critical for us to understand your position on the following issues.

Please give specific answers to the questions and answer them as thoroughly as possible. Please type your

answers. Use additional sheets as necessary.

1. Could you please articulate what you think are the most pressing issues for the U.S. immigrant community, at home AND abroad, and how you would hope to address those issues as President?

At home, the immigrant community faces a real challenge from the tension our inability to fix our immigration system has engendered. Abroad, not enough is being done to encourage job creation and economic development and to decrease the pressure to immigrate without authorization to the U.S.
in search of work.

2. Do you support comprehensive immigration reform?

Immigration: Immigration Has Arrested 11,000 'Transnational' Gang Members in 3 Year

Articles dealing with Immigrationprdgnonr writes "(CNSNews.com ) –  Over the past three years, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has arrested more than 11,000 members and associates of  "transnational" gangs operating inside the United States.

In an effort called Operation Community Shield, ICE has targeted street gangs, investigated their internal operations, disrupted their inflow of cash, weapons, and various assets, and worked to remove illegal alien gang members from the U.S.

In the last four months alone--from June to September--ICE agents made nearly 1,800 arrests as part of what the agency is calling a nationwide public safety “surge.” Almost 1,500 of those arrests were of gang members or their associates--including members of the violent transnational MS-13 gang."

Immigration: Gangs traffic some 500,000 foreigners a year across Mexico

Articles dealing with Immigrationprdgnonr writes "Mexico City - An estimated 500,000 illegal immigrants from South America, the Caribbean and Central America pay Mexican gangs to help them transit Mexico and cross into the United States every year, Mexico's National Human Rights Commission said Wednesday. This illegal trade brings "extraordinary earnings" since each person pays 4,000 to 15,000 dollars. In total, this would mean some 2 to 7.5 billion dollars a year, the commission said.

 Immigration: Virginia

Articles dealing with Immigrationpatriot writes "

By KAREN MAHABIR, Associated Press Writer Mon May 26, 3:37 PM ET

WOODBRIDGE, Va. - Business at Pedro Vargas' store, Club Video Mexico, has slid so steeply that only eight people walked through the door one day last month.

One thing he has been selling, however, are one-way bus tickets from northern Virginia to Texas and Mexico. Soon he'll be getting his own ticket out of town — seeking a friendlier and more lucrative place to do business.

"The last few months have been very, very bad for us," said Vargas, who plans to move this summer from Prince William County, about 25 miles southwest of Washington, to Utah, where he recently opened another store.

Many say Prince William's new crackdown on illegal immigrants has created an environment so unfriendly that Hispanic people are leaving the county of more than 350,000, which according to the U.S. Census Bureau was nearly 15 percent Hispanic in 2006.

Foreign - They don't belong in our country
Domestic - They are a burden on our infastructure
